I love, love, LOVE red wine like no other adult beverage - and I refuse to give it up during the warmer months. Yes, I may stow away my Cali Cabs, Brunellos and Priorats in the cellar for Winter consumption, but red wine will always be my jam, even in the dog days of August.

I am more than happy to lighten up a bit and will gladly eschew those cold weather wines for those that are lighter on their feet. To me, no other red wine goes hand in hand with Spring and Summer like Beaujolais. Its bright, fresh fruit characters, soft tannins and lively acidity are perfect for this time of year, so today's Buy the Case Special, the 2015 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages, came along at the perfect time - and at a final price of $5 per bottle, who can say no? Not me, fer sure!

The name Duboeuf is synonymous with Burgundian wine; Georges Duboeuf, who is widely credited with putting the region of Beaujolais on the map, has been making wine in the south of Burgundy for over 50 years. To this day, the family is a standard-bearer in Burgundy, producing a number of cuvées (both its own and as an estate bottler for others) that have garnered numerous accolades from the press as well as millions of wine loving fans. Their Beaujolais game is STRONG!

If you have been following popular trends in the fine wine market over the last few years then you already know that the Gamay varietal is hot, Hot, HOT - and Beaujolais is leading the charge. Additionally, it should be noted that 2015 is widely considered to be the GREATEST VINTAGE for the region of Beaujolais since the legendary 1947. Writing for Decanter magazine, Andrew Jefford has stated that 2015 was the vintage that will save the region. Wine Enthusiast Magazine rates the 2015 vintage in Beaujolais as 96 points/SUPERB.

Today's wine presents luscious ripe, red fruits on the nose and palate: cherries, raspberries and strawberries abound, with accents of red currants and cinnamon emerging on the mid-palate. The wine has been crafted from 100% hand-harvested Gamay and was fermented traditionally using indigenous yeast. Wine critic James Suckling was so impressed with the 2015 Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages that he graced the wine with a 91 point rating.

This is a great opportunity to have a cellar stocked with a gorgeous summer sipper for ridiculously short money. Get it while it lasts - CHEERS!
