Last year, Bin Ends' Operations Director Dan Comer had the opportunity to travel to South Africa to tour the wine regions of Stellenbosch, Robertson, and the Western Cape. If you have spent any time in either of our stores, you know Dan. He's the guy who has been with us from the very beginning, back in 2008; the guy who has a photographic memory for people's names; the guy who has developed a palate for wine that is almost as impressive as his ability to place names with faces. Visiting some of the most historic wineries on the Cape, along with many of the new guard properties that are blazing a bright future for the wines of South Africa, Dan was able to gain a terrific understanding of what makes the South African wine trade so exciting today.

The noble Chenin Blanc varietal was and continues to be the driving force behind the South African wine industry. It has been grown here for several hundred years, and the synergy between grape and terroir is evident upon the first sip of any South African Chenin you have the pleasure of drinking. This given is particularly true when you put that fruit in the remarkably talented hands of an individual such as Bruwer Raats, one of the folks that Dan got to spend a good amount of time with during his time in South Africa. Tasting through the entire range of wines crafted by Bruwer, from both his own property, Raats Family Wines, as well as those from Indaba Wines, it was abundantly clear to Dan that this guy has some mad winemaking skills and that anything he put his hands on had the potential to be turned to gold.

With this information in hand, we were particularly excited to have the opportunity to acquire the 2016 Indaba Chenin Blanc Western Cape. We were thrilled when we crunched the numbers and realized that we could make this wine work as a "BUY THE CASE". We absolutely LOVE when this happens!

Bruwer has a particular devotion to the Chenin Blanc grape and a deep appreciation for its chameleon-like qualities (it makes wines ranging from bone-dry to dessert-level sweet), its ability to reflect its terroir and its unfailing determination to make itself into wines that are incredibly delicious and versatile.

Today's offer hits all the high notes that one looks for in great Chenin Blanc. It abounds with generous flavors of Key lime, Bosc pear, green apple, a hint of spiciness and lively acidity. The bold, fruit forward character of this wine, along with its substantial medium weight palate (just a kiss - 2% - is barrel fermented) is sure to make a big splash at any gathering as this wine is both food friendly and totally engaging as a cocktail wine. From the patio to the dining table, the 2016 Indaba Chenin Blanc is a winner.

We feel very confident in saying that just about anyone would be happy to pay the full price of $12 per bottle for this lovely wine without batting an eye, but at today's $6 price tag this offer is a no-brainer. What are you waiting for? Snap it up before it's gone!
