It has been a great pleasure watching this property develop into a powerhouse over the last 6-8 years. Working with SERIOUSLY old Monastrell vines in the up and coming region of Yecla, the Castano family are today the benchmark producer in the zone.
Solanera is a blend of 65% old vine Monastrell, 20% Cabernet
Sauvignon, and 15% Tintorera that has been matured in French barrique. India ink purple/black in color, Solanera possesses aromas of spice and blackberry/blueberry jam. The wine is full bodied with a lush texture on the palate. Age worthy for sure, it is great to know that one can still get this level of quality and change for a $20 bill.
