Clos du Val has been crafting world class wines in California's Napa Valley since 1972. Their history is about as rich as it gets for a new world producer. They can lay claim to some pretty impressive achievements including one of the six positions in the famous 1976 Paris Tasting that for the first time put California against France.
The estate is comprised of 150 acres of prime vineyards in Napa's Stags Leap district with a focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet.
The 2005 Merlot is made with 65% Stags Leap fruit and is a wonderfully styled Merlot. Black fruit and cassis drive it. Followed by an incredibly soft finish perfectly in balance with a touch of oak.
