Casa Vinicola Bertani has been crafting classically styled wines in Italy's Veneto region since 1857. The 2005 Valpolicella Ripasso is produced from estate vineyards within the Valpantena district. This is a Ripasso method Valpolicella, meaning the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation in mid winter after the introduction of Amarone skins to the must. This greatly increases the richness and power of the wine and imparts a bit of the Amarone character.

The wine is medium in body and driven by it's bright cherry fruit mixed up with cedar, spice and a bit of leather.

"Starts with berries, flowers and fresh herbs on the nose, turning to red licorice and mineral on the palate. Medium-bodied and lightly firm, with a good core of fruit and a delicious chocolate-tinged mineral finish. Elegant." -Wine Spectator
