Sourced from Chilean powerhouse Cousino Macul's top vineyards in Chile's central Maipo Valley, the wine is a traditional Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, aged for about 16 months in a combination of new and used French oak. While the wine is unusually soft in character, it serves up more of an "old world" flavor profile than you would expect. Full, round and mouthfilling, the abundance of fragrance on the bouquet follows through on the palate. Loads of jammy, cassis loaded fruit integrate perfectly with cedar and oak nuances.
Did I mention soft? That's the one factor that really stood out. While rich and powerful the wine retains it's softness from start to finish. This is an insane value in Cabernet Sauvignon.
90 Points- The Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Finis Terrae (which is destined to become the second label of LOTA) is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot raised for 14 months in French oak, 65% new. Purple-colored, the wine has a fragrant bouquet of wood smoke, cedar, leather, black currants, and blackberry. Bordeaux-like on the palate with an elegant personality, it has a smooth-texture, succulent flavors, excellent depth, and a long, pure finish. It will evolve for 2-3 years and be at its best from 2011 to 2022. "
