Stop what you are doing RIGHT NOW and score yourself a KILLER, single vineyard Cali Pinot that will please that palates of all manner of Pinophiles. Complex and layered, it reflects the mad skills of its creator, who made sure that the finished wine would convey a sense of place while at the same time put its decadent fruit on center stage. Even better? Get this 91-point stunner at 40% off its full retail price. Christmas just got a little bit merrier with today's Three-Pack Special, the 2012 Cherry Pie Pinot Noir "Stanly Ranch Vineyard"!

Carneros straddles Napa and Sonoma counties and was granted AVA status in 1983. Located between the Mayacamas Range and San Pablo Bay, this relatively cool area benefits daily from morning fog that rolls in from the bay and a persistent wind that makes the vines struggle to retain moisture. The soils here are shallow and thin, with poor drainage and nutrients. Under these conditions, vines work HARD to produce grapes - and that is exactly what Pinot vines want to do. Carneros Pinot Noirs strike the perfect balance between ripe fruit and vibrant acidity and display compelling secondary characters that add dimension and depth.

Winemaker Jason Woodbridge's claims to fame are his highly-rated, cult-status Cabernets under the Hundred Acre Winery label. He has recently expanded his empire, venturing into Pinot Noir and Chardonnay territory. The fruit for today's wine was sourced entirely from the Stanly Ranch vineyard, located on the Napa side of Carneros and known for its bold and expressive yet elegant Pinot Noirs. 91 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"(The 2012 Cherry Pie "Stanly Ranch Vineyard") is a completely de-stemmed, sexy, in-your-face style of Pinot Noir, much like Jayson Woodbridge himself. Terroiristes will probably get their panties in a twist arguing that it is too delicious, too yummy, but this is a beautiful wine with super black cherry/kirsch liqueur-like fruitiness, soft tannins, and a round, juicy, authentic Pinot Noir character." (August 2015)

90 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
"Pale-medium bright red. Aromas of raspberry, brown spices and underbrush are lifted by a floral note. Silky and light on its feet, with ripe acidity framing the rich, sweet flavors of red berries, red cherry and earth. Offers good fat without excess weight, finishing with a fine dusting of tannins and very good length. Sweeter and more expansive than the 2011 bottling. Jayson Woodbridge's Pinots have gotten much subtler and more perfumed in recent vintages." (May 2014)

The 2012 Cherry Pie "Stanly Ranch Vineyard" has stood the test of time; it is drinking beautifully now yet still has the structure to spend a few more years in the cellar. A three-pack will give you the chance to see how it continues to evolve, but I bet that you won't be able to wait that long. Cheers!
