If you dig Bordeaux (and c'mon, who doesn't??) and you want to drink like a king on a pauper's budget, you MUST pull the trigger on today's Six-Pack Special, the 2012 Château de Pitray Côtes de Castillon. This long-time Bin Ends' staple has been slaking the thirsts of our Bordeaux-loving customers for three vintages - and NOW is the time to stock up because we are offering it at its lowest price ever!

From the first time that we opened the Pitray at our tasting counter back in 2015, it became a hit. Every one of our staff LOVED this wine; we immediately became instant brand evangelists, hand-selling it to almost everyone who came into the store looking for a delicious, well-priced red. In no time at all, it began to sell itself and became one of out most popular Bordeaux reds. The three vintages we have carried in our store have all been stellar; the Pitray consistently scores very high on the price-to-quality scale.

Côtes de Castillon is a treasure trove of great, affordable wines. Located on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, it has only recently been granted AOC status in the region. The soil, made primarily of clay and limestone, is a match made in heaven with the Merlot grape, which dominates here. (Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc grown here ain't too shabby, either.) Today's wine is one of the best reds from the region that we have ever had. It strikes the perfect balance between lush texture and vibrant acidity; the tannins are velvety, yet the wine is extremely well-structured. It opens with aromas of black raspberry, cigar box and vanilla. The medium-to-full-bodied palate abounds with red currants, black cherries and black raspberries, with accents of cedar, vanilla and the merest hints of savory herbs on the finish. IT ROCKS!

Robert Parker loved it, too: "One of the old-time favorites and value picks in The Wine Advocate, this wine, from a gorgeous château in the Castillon, sports a completely new label. Black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, and some underbrush and earth are present in this supple-textured, medium-bodied, deliciously fruity, well-made wine, which exhibits ripe tannin as well as nice texture and length." (4/15)

Do what I did and JUMP on the chance to stock up on this beauty for a mere $9 per bottle at a savings of 50%. Blow your mind and your palate, not your budget!
