Today's email feature is a last minute change to the schedule, an offer that is so good it made us abruptly change our plans so that we could get it to you right away. We cannot think of a better way to start the weekend than with a highly rated, single vineyard Brunello from a top-notch producer, one that you can enjoy now or cellar for later. Do what we did and jump on today's Buy the Pair, the 2013 San Filippo Brunello di Montalcino "Le Lucére"!

San Filippo was established in 1972 by Roberto Giannelli; he released his first wine with the 1977 vintage. The property, which lies in the eastern hills around the town of Montalcino, totals 22 hectares, 11 of which are under vine. The soils here are clay-based and calcareous, ideal for the cultivation of Sangiovese. San Filippo's wines are known for being elegant and age-worthy, yet thoroughly approachable in their youth. Monica Lerner of the Wine Advocate is one of his most ardent fans in the press: “San Filippo is home to some of the best boutique Brunello today… The quality of the product has made quantum leaps since I first tasted the wines more than a decade ago… Proprietor Roberto Giannelli farms on mostly clay soils and his wines proudly show the extra structure and intensity that is common in this eastern corner of the appellation.”

Today's wine is sourced from the Lucére vineyard, which is located within the Brunello "Grand Cru" zone and enjoys what many winemakers believe to be an ideal locale in terms of elevation, soil and sun exposure. Check out the press!

96 points, James Suckling
"Subtle and complete aromas of cherry, flowers, and orange peel. Full body, round and velvety tannins. So pretty and refined. Polished. A gorgeous wine. Drink or hold." (November 2017)

95 points, Wine Spectator
"As much savory as fruity, this offers a fine balance between cherry, leather, spice and carob aromas and flavors. Rich yet lively, leaving a mouthwatering impression on the long, saline aftertaste. Best from 2020 through 2035." (March 2018)

94+ points, Vinous
"Bright red. Perfumed aromas and flavors of pink flowers, sour red cherry and strawberry. Fresh and juicy but also dense and deep, this boasts captivating sugar-acid-tannin balance. Finishes long and perfumed; despite its sneaky concentration and size, it has a light-on-its-feet quality that is very typical of this wine. Best 2023-2037" (April 2018)

We only have a precious few cases of this glorious, collectible wine. Seize this opportunity to stock up on a few bottles. Whether you drink them now or cellar them, they are sure to bring you lots of pleasure Cheers!
