Tucked away in the valley between Sonoma Mountain and the Mayacamas Range and straddling both Napa and Sonoma Valleys is a small, charming winery - a hidden gem among the more well-known ones in the area. Known to a relatively small coterie of wine lovers, it specializes in artisanally-produced, hand-crafted and terroir-driven wines sourced from the most highly-regarded AVAs in California. These hallowed places, when sourced by the major players, bring forth wines of exceptional quality that garner high ratings from the wine press and cost a lot of dough. But when today's featured winery gets in the game, the result is sublime California wine with a friendlier price tag.

Today, the term "go off the beaten path" refers not to place, but producer. BR Cohn Winery has the goods - access to those jaw-dropping AVAs and mad winemaking skills - but it flies under the radar of the general wine-loving public. What does this mean for you? It means that by purchasing one of BR Cohn's stunning cuvées, you will have the pleasure of enjoying the best that California wine country has to offer at a fraction of the price. Get IN THE KNOW, get familiar with this winery and get your hands on today's Three-Pack Special, the 2014 BR Cohn Chardonnay San Giacomo Vineyard!

Bruce Cohn is a former music executive who desired a slower-paced lifestyle for himself and his family and, to achieve that end, purchased his property - a former dairy - in Glen Ellen in 1974. There was an existing vineyard on the property and, with the guidance and encouragement of friend and mentor Charlie Wagner of Caymus, revived the vineyard and spent the next ten years selling his grapes to other winemakers. He started making his own wine in 1984 from his property, and eventually expanded his portfolio to include wines made from nearby vineyards. Help along the way from winemaking icons Helen Turley and Merry Edwards enabled him to refine his approach to winemaking and enhance the quality and pedigree of his wines. Today's offer represents the culmination of his journey from the music business to master wine craftsman; indeed, he is the man behind the most artfully-crafted wine you may have never heard of.

The 2014 BR Cohn San Giacomo Vineyard Chardonnay is made from grapes grown at the San Giacomo Vineyard in the Carneros region of the southern Sonoma Valley. It is 100% barrel fermented and aged in all new Burgundian French oak barrels. This wine is rich and concentrated, with aromas of tropical fruit, pear, apricot, and lemon meringue that lead to a rich palate of honey, pear, apple and citrus fruits, with accents of vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut. (from winery notes). If you love richly textured, abundantly fruited Chardonnay, this wine needs to be yours. You will forever be a fan of this "secret" winery, guaranteed. CHEERS!
