Oh, how I've missed Burgundian Pinot Noir! It's been a little while since I have availed myself of its elegant, exquisite beauty, but now that I have had the chance to savor today's Three-Pack Special, I have vowed to elevate my wine game and put these beauties in the rotation more frequently. Once you try the 2015 Domaine de la Ferté Givry, you will be as enchanted as I am!

Givry is an AOC, or appellation, in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, which is sandwiched between the Côte d'Or to the north and the Mâconnais to the south, with the River Saône to the east. There are over 100 hectares of vineyards in Givry, with 80% planted to Pinot Noir. Givry Pinots are layered and fragrant, with vibrant fruit characters interlaced with sweet and savory secondary flavors. They are delicious in their youth but benefit from a few years of cellar aging.

Domaine de la Ferté has a history that dates back to the 12th century, when it was established as a monastery. Today it its owned and operated by the Devillard family. They lavish their attention on their 6.25 acres of vines and produce only three wines, all of which are Pinot Noirs. This narrow focus allows them an intimate knowledge of the micro-terroirs of their vineyards and a singular expertise in the craftsmanship of their wines.

Today's offer is entirely sourced from the Devillard's "Chanevarie" vineyard, which has rich, clay-based soils and a south-east exposure. Aged for 9 months in 100% French oak, 15% of which is new, it displays a gorgeous, silky texture and purity of fruit. Raspberries and red cherries dominate the nose and palate; the fruit flavors are interlaced with fines herbs, cedar and the merest hints of wet stone and spice. The tannins are soft, the acidity is firm and the finish is long. This is delicious, classic Burgundian Pinot at an affordable price. GO FOR IT, Pinot lovers.Cheers! 13% Alcohol
